Lake Atitlán Paddle Tour
Transfer from Antigua to Panachel where you will be met on the beach with boats so that you can paddle in to Casa del Mundo in Jaibalito. Eat a filling dinner family style and stay in the magical setting of the hotel perched on the rocky slopes just above the water's edge.
Leave early the next morning for a full day of paddling along the lake's western and southern coasts, past the Tzu'tujil fortress at Chu'tinamet guarding the entrance to the Bay of Santiago and paddle to the Posada Santiago. Dine at the best kitchen in town and stay in the handsome rooms built on the hill from volcanic stone.
On the morning of the third retrace your steps north out of the bay and past the city of Santiago to continue the paddle east along the southern coast where the view is dominated by the Cerro de Oro in the foreground dwarfed by the giants Tolimán and Atitlán behind it. Stop for lunch at the public beach in the town of the same name, and if you're feeling energetic, hike 45 minutes up 1000 feet to the top of the Cerro for a more bird's eye view of the lake. In the afternoon it's on to past San Antonio and Santa Catarina back to the beach where you started in Panajachel.
