Three-hour "Taste of Sea Kayaking" tours are intended for those who have a lot to do on San Juan Island and not a lot of time or would like to simply try out sea kayaking in this kayakers' paradise.
This tour begins with introducing you to kayaking equipment and giving you an informative kayak/safety lesson. Once everyone is comfortable and ready, you will launch from specially built kayak docks onto the protected waters of Mitchell Bay starting a five to six-mile round trip along the west side of San Juan Island. Enjoy an expansive view of the snowcapped Olympic Mountain Range and neighboring Canada as you kayak though kelp forests and view sea stars along the rocky coastline. While on the water, your knowledgeable and friendly naturalist kayak guide will educate you about the surrounding region and wildlife while helping you further improve your kayaking skills.
Examples of some commonly seen flora and fauna: Bald Eagles, Pacific Harbor Seals, Orcas (Killer Whales), Dall's Porpoises, Great Blue Herons, Ochre Sea Stars, Pacific Madrones, Douglas-firs and forests of Bull Kelp.
